Prayer for revival
The fifth in the series of ‘concerts of prayer for revival’, first arranged in early 2011 by the Yorkshire Reformed Ministers’ Fraternal, took place on Saturday 11 February. From 10.00am until noon, there was united prayer for the outpouring of the Spirit on our churches, nation and world.
Eight meetings took place across Yorkshire, as well as meetings at Newcastle upon Tyne; Lancaster, Accrington and Milnrow (Lancashire); Newton Aycliffe (Durham); Stowmarket (Suffolk); Yateley (Hampshire); Chatham and Bexleyheath (Kent); and Brighton (Sussex).
Reports from around the UK said, typically: ‘a good spirit of prayer, united in confessing the state of our nation and our great need of God’; ‘a real sense of unity in our prayers’; and ‘it was very evident that the Holy Spirit was at work enabling intercession’. The prayer was wide-ranging within the single theme of revival.
In Yorkshire 265 were present across the eight meetings, representing 55 churches. Across the UK, 525 people met and over 100 different congregations were represented. The growth of the prayer concert surely indicates that the Spirit of God is moving his people to pray — to him alone be the glory! The next prayer meetings are planned for 21 April.
