Legacy of Tiananmen: 35 years on, persecution in China spreads to Hong Kong

On June 4th it was 35 years to the day since China crushed the Tiananmen Square protests. Following the destruction of the democracy movement, China has progressively stepped up the persecution of Christians in the country.

The latest report by the United States Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) warns China’s crackdown on Christians is tightening.

And, according to religious freedom group, Release International, that persecution has extended to Hong Kong and beyond China’s national borders.
