2000 Years of Christ’s Power, Volume 5: The Age of Enlightenment and Awakening

Judging only by the series’ shamelessly unacademic title – ‘2000 years of Christ’s power’ – some may suspect Nick Needham’s latest volume to be another case of bad, ‘popular’ church history; trite, mawkish, and unreliable. This suspicion, however, would be entirely mistaken. While it is an easy read – clear, concise, and assuming little prior knowledge – it sacrifices nothing in accuracy or nuance. Needham leads us through 18th century church history in a way that satisfies both the layman and the scholar.
