Farming Christian Link (formerly the Farmers Christian Postal Service) was founded in 1934 by the Revd J. C. Williams, a Free Church Minister who lived at Tenterden, Kent.
In the summer of that year while out for a walk, he was caught in a thunderstorm and sought shelter in a farmhouse. Mr Williams entered into conversation with the farmer about what it meant to be a Christian and when he arrived home followed this up with a letter.
The farmer responded positively and asked Mr Williams to write similar letters to neighbouring farmers. In this simple way the Farmers Christian Postal Service was launched.
