In January, more than 100 people gathered at Wimbledon Baptist Church for a thanksgiving service and pastoral induction. Two necessary meetings – a members’ meeting and a prayer meeting – preceded this one.
On 21 May 2023, the members of the then-recently-formed church gathered for a members’ meeting. In that meeting the members recognised their first pastor, elders, deacons, and ministry trainee.
Appointing a pastor for the church was one thing. Housing a pastor and his family locally was another thing altogether. Wimbledon is expensive. Purchasing a house was deemed cost prohibitive. Renting was not a viable option either.
