Beware: monsters!
The story of the amazing animals and monsters in John Bunyan’s Pilgrim’s progress is to be told at the John Bunyan Museum, Bedford.
The summer exhibition, called ‘Bunyan’s beasts’, will put on display books and text panels that tell the story of the beasts found in his seminal literary work.
Nicola Sherhod, curator of the museum, said, ‘We hope there is something here for young and old alike. They can discover what the beasts represented in the book and see how they have been portrayed in the many illustrated editions.
‘It is good to display books not usually seen by the general public and a great opportunity for them to see the wide range of illustrations from all over the world’.
The free exhibition runs until 10 September and, on Fridays throughout August, there will be craft activities for children based on the same theme — beasts. Both exhibition and museum are open Tuesdays-Saturdays, 11.00am-4.00pm. Don’t be afraid; go and draw your own monster!
