A Christian is suing the Liberal Democrat party, claiming he was deselected as a candidate because of his faith.

The party announced that David Campanale, a former BBC journalist, was going to be their candidate for the parliamentary seat of Sutton and Cheam.

But he says he was ‘almost immediately’ the subject of anti-Christian complaints made by members of the local party, culminating in attempts to deselect him.
