The London council of Lewisham East has taken down a multi-coloured Progress Pride flag after being accused of ‘political bias’ and threatened with a High Court injunction.

Maureen Martin accused Lewisham Council of breaching the Local Government Act for flying the Progress Pride flag during an election.

Supported by the Christian Legal Centre, Martin, who was the Christian Peoples’ Alliance candidate for Lewisham East, wrote to the council via her lawyers stating that if the flags were not removed, she would seek injunctive relief in the High Court.
