Attempts by a member of Northern Ireland’s legislature to introduce a private member’s bill banning conversion therapy is ‘rehashing old and discredited proposals’, the Christian Institute (CI) has said.

James Kennedy, the CI’s Northern Ireland policy officer, spoke out against comments by MLA Eoin Tennyson (pictured), who is carrying out a private consultation into so-called conversion therapy.

Tennyson has said he intends to introduce a private member’s bill on the subject, which would criminalise anyone who engages in a ‘conversion practice’.
