Cuban authorities have arrested a pastor and his fellow worker because they were campaigning for religious freedom in the communist country.
Christian Solidarity Worldwide (CSW) has called for the release of pastor Alejandro Hernández Cepero and Luis Eugenio Maldonado Calvo.
The pair were reportedly targeted by Cuban authorities because of their involvement in an initiative to organise roundtables to discuss Freedom of Religion or Belief.
According to Open Doors UK, Cuba’s communist regime is not tolerant of dissenting voices or any other institutions gaining influence or power.
The church falls into both of these camps and, as a result, Christians experience persecution from the authorities.
