This book aims to clearly and straightforwardly explain the Bible’s teaching about God’s plan for the lives of men and women. The author uses the unfolding pattern of ‘salvation history’ to describe how His design ought to shape our lives.
She starts with the created dignity and equality, and the diversity and complementarity of the sexes. She then moves on to the human rejection of Gods’ pattern, with its many and sad ramifications, particularly as this has troublingly worked itself out in the ‘battle of the sexes’. She describes God’s wonderful rescue plan in Christ, and explores some of the implications of this for relationships in the home, the church, and the workplace. Her comments are direct, wise, and helpful. The book concludes with an eager anticipation of the eternal state in a renewed creation.
In today’s ‘equality and diversity ‘ culture with all its many confusions, this is a courageous and much-needed call to listen to God’s wisdom, a summons to embrace the differences between the genders that God has made, and a challenge to act faithfully, obediently, and truthfully before the watching world.
Warmly commended, especially to younger Christians who have to think all this through and work it out ‘against the flow’ of the dominant secular culture.
