The Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has been warned not to dictate to churches how they may pray for LGBT people, as he considers passing a law banning conversion practices.
A similar law has already been passed in the Australian State of Victoria, and public officials there have released guidance telling churches how they should and shouldn’t pray.
Under that guidance, even saying the Lord’s Prayer with an LGBT person may be enough to fall foul of the law. The guidance also outlines state-approved language for the pastoral care of LGBT individuals.
Here in the UK, The Christian Institute has written to the Prime Minister warning him about the dangers of following Australia’s lead.
