Just under 30 people attended the 2017 Free Church (Continuing) All-Age Holiday, held in Windmill Christian Centre, Arbroath, in July.
Due to the popularity of the centre, we were not able to book our usual week-long slot; so, instead of not holding the holiday, the organisers opted to stage it over an extended weekend.
The aim is for young and old to gather together for a time of relaxation and fellowship in a safe Christian environment. Each day began with a prayer meeting for the early birds, then a leisurely breakfast, followed by morning worship. All were then free either to stay around the centre and enjoy the facilities or explore sights and places of interest further afield.
After the evening meal, the company gathered to hear our speaker, Rev. E. Trevor Kirkland, from our Ballyclare & Doagh congregation in Northern Ireland. He chose to speak from the book of Ruth and delivered six addresses during the holiday.
All found the addresses thought-provoking, stimulating, practical and well presented. Afterwards, discussion continued during a time of informal fellowship.
Thanks to the speaker for bringing God’s Word to those gathered. Thanks also to the cooks Isobel McQueer (Dores), Debbie Allan (Partick) and Sohana Graeme (Knightswood) for the delicious and varied cuisine.
Also, we are grateful to our precentors Don Macleod, Alasdair Macleod (both from Point), Alex Watt and Kevin MacDonald (both from Aberdeen) for their ministry. And thanks to all who came and helped to make the holiday a memorable and enjoyable occasion.
Lord willing, the holiday next year will return to our week-long pattern, from Saturday 14 to Saturday 21 July, at Windmill Christian Centre, Arbroath.
