This short book considers the problem of idolatry in today’s society. The author looks helpfully at how idolatry affects and warps our views on sex, relationships, life and money. This is contrasted with holding a true, biblical position, and, above all, pleasing God.
Teenagers are the main target audience, but others will benefit from reading a fresh perspective on a sin with which God’s people have always struggled.
It is well written and easy to read, with a clear, punchy and youthful style. Its readers should prepare to have their hearts challenged. Each chapter (of about ten pages long) includes constant challenges to assess our attitudes. Further points to think through are included at the end.
Constant citation of Scripture clearly shows the Bible’s teaching on every topic. The final chapter is devoted to reminding the reader that it is best to trust Jesus, rather than settle for a substitute ‘god’.
