Sixty cases of euthanasia and assisted suicide for eating disorders such as anorexia nervosa have been documented in multiple countries, a study has revealed.

The scientific study published in Frontiers in Psychology found that assisted dying for reasons solely related to an eating disorder (ED) has occurred in multiple countries, including those which restrict the practice to individuals with a terminal condition.

The study, ‘Assisted death in eating disorders: a systematic review of cases and clinical rationales’, was written by Chelsea Roff and Catherine Cook-Cottone.
