These 13 modernised sermons from volume 9 of John Owen’s Works expound the graces of faith, love, humility, and hope. Owen defines saving faith in the first sermon, then expands on the importance of steadfastness in the faith. He returns to this subject in the text ‘God the Saints’ Rock’ (Psalm 61:2). Five sermons unpack ‘walking humbly with God’ (Micah 6:8). One tender but powerful sermon exhorts his congregation ‘above all’ to ‘put on love’ (Colossians 3:14), emphasising the priority of love and especially the church as the location in which love is to be practised.
