A baby has been born with three genetic parents for the first time in the UK, but there are concerns about health risks involved.

The in-vitro-fertilisation technique involves most of the genetic material coming from two parents, with about 0.1 per cent coming from a third genetic donor.

It is used in an attempt to avoid babies being born with mitochondrial disease, but it is a highly controversial issue.
