John Pugh: Extraordinary evangelist and church planter

An 1896 article in the Monthly Treasury, a Welsh Methodist journal, stated, ‘Everybody in Wales has heard of John Pugh…everybody is acquainted with his powerful voice. Everybody admits the warmth of his heart…and are intimate with his gigantic projects and his Forward Movement and Church Extension schemes…’

That was then; yet today, who has heard of John Pugh? The heroes of the past are easily forgotten! Prior to reading this book my only knowledge of the man was in connection with events leading up to the 1904 Welsh Revival. John Pugh deserves to be recognised once more as a church history hero.
