Joseph Hewitt was born on 6 March 1931 in Lambeth, London, and was one of five children. His life changed completely when in 1941 a stranger asked if he would come to Sunday School.
Joseph fell in love with the Bible and later, having been convicted of his sin, was baptised on 15 April 1945. He was given the verse from Ruth 2:12: ‘The LORD recompense thy work and a full reward be given thee of the LORD God of Israel under whose wings thou are come to trust.’
