The Labour Party has promised to introduce ‘a full, no-loopholes, trans-inclusive ban on conversion therapy’ if they win the next general election.

The commitment was made by the Shadow Women and Equalities Secretary, Anneliese Dodds, at the Labour Party conference in Liverpool.

The current Conservative government has long delayed introducing a ban because of its implications for free speech and religious liberty.

Activists want to ban all practices aimed at the ‘conversion’ of LGBT people, including some elements of preaching, praying, pastoring – and even parenting.
