The 2023 Spring Lecture at the Christian Heritage Centre in Rowley Regis was given by Tim Martin. His subject was Gregory of Nazianzus (330–390).
For many Gregory of Nazianzus is an unknown figure, but Tim, in a lucid and captivating lecture, brought his life and contribution to light.
Tim traced out the miraculous rise of Christianity up to Gregory’s day. He charted its ascent from a vulnerable and despised sect to a revered and honoured institution, noting for example that the building in which the apostle Paul was tried eventually became a church building.
