This book is about the formative influences on Leslie Land leading to his outstanding ministry at Melbourne Hall, Leicester. These influences take up the first quarter of the book, with his ministry and examples of his preaching in the rest.
His parents were faithful in taking their children to a live local church where Land trusted in Christ. He went to Cambridge and thence to Seaford College where he became the Head of the school in his early 30s. It was as the Head and arranging chapel service speakers that he met and made friends with Martyn Lloyd-Jones, with whom he shared his sense of call to ministry. Through Lloyd-Jones’s friendship and encouragement, Land trained for ministry and was called to Melbourne Hall 1947–1961.
