The current Conservative government has struggled to bring forward a ban on conversion practices, and there was no mention of a ban in the King’s Speech. It is easy to imagine the infighting going on in the Tory Party between those who want it, those who don’t, and those seeking a middle way (whatever that may be). If Labour wins the next election, they have promised a full-strength ‘no loopholes’ ban which includes trans issues. Scotland is planning to legislate in a way that is worryingly broad.
