Marriage

Bishop of Manchester Rt Rev. Nigel McCulloch has called on Conservative party members and politicians to make marriage more viable to Britons.

Speaking at a fringe event, organised by traditionalist group Cornerstone during the Conservative party conference, the Anglican bishop called on the Government to do more to promote marriage.

Explaining his understanding of marriage as that between a man and a woman, he said supporting marriage was not discriminatory but common sense and that financial incentives, such as tax breaks, would go a long way to encouraging the principle of marriage.

According to the Daily Telegraph, he added, ‘Marriage deserves and requires stronger public — and, dare I say it, governmental support’.

His comments came just as the Prime Minster unveiled a vision ofBritainin which gay marriage is to be brought in.
