Dominic Stockford

On Monday 5 April Dominic Stockford, minister of Christ Church, Teddington, was consecrated as bishop for the Evangelical Connexion of the Free Church of England. The service took place at the Hayes Centre Chapel in Swanwick.

Bishop Arthur Bentley Taylor conducted the simple yet dignified service. His brother Rupert Bentley Taylor, President of FIEC, preached the message.

The service was attended by family and friends of Dominic and members of the Connexion. After the evening meal, there was a testimony meeting where Bishop Dominic testified to his leaving the Church of Rome and being truly born again and converted to Christ. No longer did he try to earn his salvation, but acknowledged it is by grace we are saved.

This is the first bishop the Connexion has consecrated for leadership of its group of churches. In these uncertain times for Anglicanism, the Connexion stands as a witness to biblical truths, with the 39 Articles of Religion (revised) and 1662 (revised) Book of Common Prayer of the Free Church of England as doctrinal standards.

The Connexion is looking forward positively to the future, to expanding the work through gospel preaching.
