New boat for CYE

Christian Youth Enterprises Sailing Centre (CYESC) has refurbished its new vessel and launched it into a wet dock. The vessel is a 30 x 9 metre ex-MOD barge, purchased in Lowestoft in June 2008 and brought to Portsmouth in July 2009.

The new boat was successfully reintroduced to the water under floodlights and moonlight after being inside a shed at Portchester for the past three months. There it had the superstructure added and was painted.

This marks great progress by the CYESC, after 24 years running CYE Sailing Centre in Chichester Harbour using the current accommodation ship The Gerald Daniel (an ex-navy minesweeper).

Refurbishments are estimated to cost around £1m, of which CYESC has raised more than £400,000 so far.
