Stabbed MP

Labour MP Stephen Timms, former Treasury Minister, is recovering well after being stabbed in the stomach during a constituency meeting.

The MP for East Ham was attacked by a woman shortly after the general election. The police said that the woman has no history of mental illness, and a court hearing is ongoing.

Mr Timms, who said he was not focusing on the incident but on serving in the opposition party, stated: ‘My focus now is on my work and on where the Labour Party will go. I have been very blessed by many prayers of my church and from letters of support’.

He said that he had also received kind letters from many Muslims in his community who expressed shock and sadness at the incident. Mr Timms was interviewed in the April edition of ET.
