Meditating upon God through his Word is essential for developing a deep walk with him. The Bible is not just a book about facts and historical happenings. It reveals to its reader the person of God: who he is and what he is like.

How do we get to know that God? How do we get to know him better? How can we find principles that will ensure our spiritual growth? These questions can be answered: by reading the Bible.

But this little book tells us that there is more to it than merely reading the text. It calls for meditation, not in a mystical sense, but in a careful and thinking way. We are directed to a particular aspect of God’s revelation: that of his character and attributes. The chapters cover the true knowledge of God, his holiness, his spiritual nature, and many other such attributes.

The format taken is to meditate upon one particular attribute of God each day throughout a month. So there are 31 chapters, which each begin with a Scripture meditation and a prayer. We are then taken through the biblical perspective of that day’s attribute, followed by reflective questions. Then there is a section called ‘Digging Deeper’, which might be a call to consider further on what we have already read, a note from church history, or directions to further reading material.

This title comes highly recommended for younger and older Christians alike. Nothing is more important than getting to know the God of the Bible, and this will aid us in that.
