Pastor Training International

Churches across the world, especially in developing countries, need godly, well-taught pastors, who preach clear, biblical, Spirit-empowered sermons.

Pastor Training International (PTI) assists pastors and preachers in some of the poorest areas of the world by providing training conferences, reformed books and correspondence mentoring. PTI conferences have grown from four across Zambia and Malawi in 2005, to 16 across Africa, Asia and Europe this year.

In January, Ken Brownell returned to Yangon in Myanmar (Burma), where he led a conference on expository preaching for 60 pastors. Ken also visited Thailand and met with Christians training and church planting in the ‘Golden triangle’ area of Myanmar, Laos and Thailand.

Alan Levy visited Liberia in February for PTI’s first conferences in the country. God wonderfully answered prayer for this visit, particularly since Mr Levy’s co-trainer was prevented from accompanying him due to ill health.

The local organisers said: ‘The Lord brought in leaders who really had ears, needed and wanted to study the truth. Alan was ready and his teaching had a profound impact on all who attended’. About 70 pastors attended in Ganta, and 65 came in Buchanan.

The programme included biblical, doctrinal and pastoral studies, and group workshops. Each pastor was presented with a set of books.

This is PTI’s sixth year in Zambia. A typical programme runs over three years at a location, with one week-long conference per year. This April Peter Seccombe visited Solwezi and Chipata, teaching 100 pastors at each venue.

Pastors in many parts of Europe are also in need of training. PTI chairman David Ide has been helping churches in Ukraine for many years. Gareth Jones of Milland Evangelical Church returned for a third conference this June to expound Paul’s letter to Titus.

PTI’s schedule for the rest of 2010 currently includes ministry in Ghana, the northern Bassa region of Nigeria, Ginchi and Awassa in Ethiopia, and Siliguri and Bangalore in India. (More information: www.pastor-training.org)
