Campaigners have blasted plans to introduce buffer zones around abortion clinics in Scotland and Ireland.
They warned of dangerous limitations to freedom of speech and expression of belief, which contradicts people’s rights under the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR).
Groups have also expressed alarm at proposals that would mean anyone flouting a buffer zone or prayer ban could end up with a custodial sentence.
In its two-page submission to the Scottish Parliament’s consultation on the Proposed Abortion Services (Safe Access Zones) (Scotland) Bill, charity and advocacy group Care for Scotland, said, ‘We have concerns about how your proposed Bill relates to freedom of speech.
