I’m a Christian husband but find summertime very difficult – many dress so scantily on the streets and resisting lust is difficult. Help!

You are facing a challenge that many Christian men find difficult. I am glad you are aware of it and seeking help for it. Battle is joined!

First, think about the things that you can do for yourself. Make this a matter of prayer before God before the day begins, asking him to purify your heart and to guard your eyes. ‘Lead us not into temptation’ should be prominent in your pleading at this season.

Then, fortified in prayer, do as Job did, and make a covenant with your eyes, that you will not look upon a young woman (Job 31:1). Having made such a covenant, act upon it; having prayed against sin, do not sin against prayer. You can do this in several ways. You can avoid more difficult environments: steer clear of places where such dress and behaviour is more common, whether that be the beach, or going past the nightclub when everyone is lining up to get in, or go to town early during the school holidays.
