Gordon Keddie, the well-known author of evangelical and reformed expository commentaries and other works, has died aged 79.
Raised in Edinburgh, Gordon’s upbringing was ‘churchy’ but nominal (Church of Scotland). He traced his spiritual change to hearing a gospel sermon from Ecclesiastes 12:1 in 1962 at a Scripture Union rally in Galashiels. He recounts the experience in Looking for the Good Life.
After schooling at George Heriot’s School, Edinburgh, Gordon gained a BSc in Zoology at Aberdeen University. He also became attached to Gilcomston South (Church of Scotland) under the ministry of the Revd William Still.
