Syria: Christian communities at risk as rebels take over

Religious freedom groups have highlighted the plight of Christian communities in Syria in the wake of rebels toppling the Assad regime.

At the end of November, rebel fighters took over the capital, Damascus, and Syria’s leader, Bashar al-Assad, fled for Russia.

The rebels are dominated by Syrian fighters of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS), an opposition group supported by Turkey.
