The merits of this book lie in its rootedness in John Bunyan’s own writings, particularly The Pilgrim’s Progress and Grace Abounding to the Chief of Sinners. The actual details of Bunyan’s life are not dwelt on at particular length. The writer’s aim, rather, is to create a biographical framework within which Bunyan can speak for himself and from which a series of important lessons can be drawn. Many of Bunyan’s other works are laid under tribute with these lessons in view.
