A theology lecturer who was sacked by a Methodist college for making social media comments defending the Bible’s teaching on sexual ethics has launched a legal action.
Lawyers representing Dr Aaron Edwards, 37, say his rights to freedom of speech and freedom of religion were unlawfully restricted. They further claim that Dr Edwards has suffered discrimination, harassment, and unfair dismissal.
He was sacked for misconduct by Cliff College in Derbyshire for allegedly ‘bringing the college into disrepute’. This relates to a social media posting in which Dr Edwards said, ‘Homosexuality is invading the Church.
