WEST Revival Conference
On 26 May, the same day as the arrival of the Olympic torch at Bryntirion, Christians from England, Wales and Scotland came for the 13th WEST Revival Conference.
Numbers were swelled by local people, particularly for the free evening sessions when more than 100 attended. Fellowship was sweet, with good times of united prayer.
The main speaker was Hector Morrison, principal of Highland Theological College. A native of the Isle of Lewis, he preached most helpfully in the evening on the biblical theme, ‘The river of God’.
In the morning, he spoke on the promises of the glory of God. Wyn Hughes from Cardiff took us to the celestial ladder in Ephesians 3, challenging us to leave evangelical nominalism and determine to make Christ our all.
Veteran preacher Eric Alldritt opened the conference with two riveting addresses on ‘To God and his Word’.
John-Mark Teeuwen and Sylvia Webb recounted the remarkable recent transformational work of God in Papua and Sarawak respectively, while Mervyn Neal spoke of the harvest of believing prayer in India today.
Gwyn Davies spoke of the role of the seiat in revivals in Wales and was our lively guide to the local site of one of them.
Then something wonderful happened on the Thursday evening — a touch of the manifest presence of God. What was Mr Morrison doing? He was preaching Christ crucified. Preacher and congregation were bathed in tears as God, by his Spirit, graciously drew near. It was a sweet token of his grace.
